Leadership Development Program with Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network
The LDP focuses on key leadership skills using a range of learning methods designed to increase your effectiveness immediately. This program includes the use of an intact, highly diverse learning community that includes participants from across the prevention, intervention, and recovery support service continuum. Developing effective leaders is particularly important as the profession faces multiple challenges, such as the overdose crisis, a changing behavioral healthcare landscape, and impending leadership transitions.

Leadership in a Nonprofit Organization
This course begins by examining leadership theories as well as key qualities and ethics within leadership. After establishing this foundation, the course focuses on leadership in the nonprofit sector, including the leadership shortage and possible solutions.
There is a fee charged for this 3 hour on demand/online course.

Public Policy and Take Action Toolkit
Federal, state and local public policy impacts all nonprofits. Advocacy is an important means to make a difference for our organizations, mission, and those we serve. In addition to the advocacy resources specific to prevention issues on Prevention Works! VT website, this toolkit contains information at a national and state level.
CADCA Advocacy Toolkit
This guide will teach you how to engage in advocacy for substance use prevention, but the principles covered can be applied to any advocacy effort at any level of government. The guide explains how to be a vocal, visible and valuable advocate and gives an overview of the difference between education and lobbying. It provides guidance for developing an effective advocacy strategy.

Sharpening Your Prevention Skills: Developing Sustainability Plans that Work A 3 part series from NEPTTC with a concentrated look at opportunities and methods of building sustainability into all aspects of coalition or program work, both from their inception and as on-going procedures. Emphasizing the value of considering sustainability before a loss of resources, it includes an overview of sustainability planning, its value & practices, and questions from prevention professionals.
Also available from NEPTTC is a Sustainability Planning Toolkit which guides professionals in evaluating their strategic planning processes and interventions in order to determine what needs to be sustained and the best way to do so.

Financial Management
Common Good VT shares a National Council of Nonprofits which includes fiscal policy guidelines and examples, financial literacy resources and provides access to “Finance Fridays” series, a live webcast event for nonprofit staff and board members who want to improve their organization’s financial performance.

A resource for online courses on substance misuse prevention can be found at HealthKnowledge, a free online learning & low cost continuing education platform. Creating an account is required to access the resources.
New England PTTC provides training and technical assistance to prevention professionals across New England. Most trainings are free and virtual.
CADCA offers training opportunities to prevention professionals. Some are free to non-members and some have a cost. You may also request training certificates for attendance at CADCA conferences.
